FESTIVAL DEVELOPMENT AND CULTURAL CONTEXT

The Spanish Film Showcase in Chengdu was conceived as a cultural event dedicated to presenting Spanish cinema to Chinese audiences through a curated selection of films, screenings and complementary activities.

Organised by Almost Red Productions in collaboration with the Embassy of Spain in China and Estudio 1958, the project created a space for cultural exchange between Spain and China, bringing together cinema, live performances, presentations and public encounters.

Due to local regulations governing film exhibition, the final programme was adapted to a selection of officially approved titles, while maintaining a coherent and representative approach to Spanish cinema.

The event contributed to strengthening cultural ties between both countries, offering audiences in Chengdu access to Spanish cinematic works within a shared cultural and institutional framework.
