Overview: Documentary-style audiovisual piece produced for the German television channel ich.tv, focused on the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, one of the world’s leading scientific and conservation institutions dedicated to the protection of this emblematic species.

The report follows the daily work of researchers, caretakers and specialized staff, addressing key aspects such as giant panda conservation, breeding programmes, veterinary care and scientific research carried out at the center.

Almost Red Productions handled the full shoot in China, including permits management, local production, and support in translation and cultural contextualization, working in coordination with the editorial team of ich.tv, responsible for the post-production and final broadcast of the piece.

DEVELOPMENT OF THE REPORT AND CONSERVATION WORK

The report offers a close observation of the scientific and conservation work carried out at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, addressing the central role of the institution in the protection of the giant panda and in research on its reproduction, behavior and long-term care.

Through images of the facilities, the follow-up of the daily work of caretakers and specialized staff, and scenes of interaction with the animals, the piece reflects the balance between science, animal welfare and public outreach, highlighting the importance of this type of institution in the preservation of endangered species.

The shoot was carried out in coordination with the center’s team and local authorities, following strict access and filming protocols.
