Luca, a young photography student, arrives in a small village in Asturias to develop an artistic project and reconnect with his roots. He stays at the home of Xuan, an ageing cheesemaker who rents out part of his house to supplement his modest income.
Xuan’s apparent brusqueness gradually reveals a past shaped by silence, prejudice, and unspoken histories. Through his camera, Luca becomes fascinated by Xuan’s hands and craft, as the older man begins to recover a sense of purpose he thought lost.
As Luca immerses himself in this unfamiliar world, the encounter between the two unfolds into an intimate exploration of memory, desire, and belonging.
Through shared gazes and quiet gestures, they discover unexpected connections in lives that once seemed distant.
Luca and Xuan embody two generations shaped by silence, emotional wounds, and desires that were never allowed to surface. Set in rural Asturias, IUS of Time pays tribute to those who lived their relationships in the shadows, reclaiming emotional memory, the passage of time, and the transformative power of intergenerational connection.
Premiering in spring 2025, the film has screened at numerous national and international festivals, where it has been warmly received by both critics and audiences. Its subtle and poetic approach to identity, solitude, and LGBTQ+ emotional heritage positions it as a distinctive work within contemporary queer cinema.
