We are very proud to announce that “IUS of Time”, directed by Roberto F. Canuto and Xu Xiaoxi, has been awarded the Best Cinematography Award at the 4º Silicon Valley Queer Film Festival (SVQFF), held in San Jose, California. The short film was also a finalist for Best Film and Best Drama, adding to its growing list of international recognitions.

We would like to congratulate the entire filmmaking team and, in particular, the cinematography department, as this award recognizes the film’s visual work and highlights the strength of its aesthetic vision within an international festival dedicated to contemporary queer cinema and independent storytelling.

The Silicon Valley Queer Film Festival, directed by Robby Kendall, has established itself in recent editions as a key meeting point for filmmakers, audiences, and community, championing works that combine artistic risk, emotional depth, and diverse perspectives.

The Best Cinematography Award recognizes the collective work of a team that has translated the emotional and temporal dimensions of the story into images. Led by Fran Córdoba as Director of Photography, and supported by a camera and lighting team working in close dialogue with analog photography and a carefully crafted color grade that defines the film’s final look:

IUS of Time and Its International Festival Journey

With this new recognition, “IUS of Time” it has now surpassed 50 selections at international film festivals, consolidating a trajectory that combines global visibility with critical recognition. Among the awards received to date are:

  • Director’s Choice Award – 45th Thomas Edison Film Festival (USA)
  • Audience Award – Asturias Section – 24th Avilés Acción Film Festival (Spain)
  • 3rd Audience Award – 24th Beijing Queer Film Festival / Love Queer Cinema Week (China)
  • Honourable Mention from the Technical Jury – Goitacá International Film Festival (Brazil)
  • Best Cinematography Award – 3rd Rural and Mountain Film Festival of Cervera de Pisuerga (Spain)

These honors are now joined by the Best Cinematography Award, along with nominations for Best Film and Best Drama at the Silicon Valley Queer Film Festival, further strengthening the short film’s international trajectory.
